Sanctioning Overview

As the Sanctioning Body for junior golf tournaments that award AJGA PBE Status in the Asia-Pacific, the Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) considers all sanctioning requests from organizers of junior golf tournaments in the region.  The JGTA is dedicated to providing sanctioned playing opportunities to junior golfers across the region as part of its mission to develop junior golfers into successful AJGA and collegiate athletes.

Qualified junior golf tournaments conducted in the Asia-Pacific are eligible be sanctioned with Junior Order of Merit status buy the JGTA,  allowing for the event results to count towards participant’s Junior Order of Merit ranking – the official ranking of the JGTA and the source of AJGA PBE Status in the Asia-Pacific. As a result of adaptations to the Junior Order of Merit’s divisor system beginning in 2019, competing in Sanctioned Events offer JGTA members tremendous benefits as additional opportunities to earn Merit Points and boost their ranking prior to the end of the season.

The Junior Order of Merit

The Junior Order of Merit (JOM) is the official points-based ranking system of the JGTA to determine Tour-wide ranking of its members, and award AJGA PBE Stars according to player’s final standing at the end of the season. Players’ final ranking in the JOM at the end of the 2019-2020 season will determine AJGA PBE Earnings.

Competitive Divisor

The Junior Order of Merit is modeled after Rolex AJGA Rankings and calculates players’ average Merit Points earned per tournament. To ensure competitive standing, a divisor of 3 is applied to each player’s total Merit Points earned. Beginning in 2019, the divisor of 3 is applied to the total Merit Points earned regardless of how many events are played in the current season. Members are permitted without restriction to earn additional Merit Points throughout the season by competing in Sanctioned Events.
