Moving Day

The wind picked up tremendously on moving day and players battled to climb the leaderboard. Tomorrow, champions of the JGTA Bogor Junior Championship hosted by Sentul Highlands Golf Club will be crowned.

In the Boy’s Division, Jakarta local Kentaro Nanayama (2021) fired a 2-over-par score of 74 and he sits on a comfortable 8-shot lead heading into the final round. If he wins, he would become the first JGTA champion from Indonesia and would catapult up the Junior Order of Merit Rankings.

Pongsapak Laopakdee (2023) of Rayong, Thailand and Jonathan Xavier Hartono (2022) of Indonesia are tied for second place with two-day totals of 7-over-par 151.

In the Girl’s Division, Mariel Isabella Tee (2020) of Pasig City, Philippines maintained her lead through round two, shooting a score of 6-over-par 78. A win from Tee would mark the first JGTA win from a player hailing from the Philippines.

Irene Wang (2020) of Beijing, China trails Tee by just one stroke after firing 37-37 for a score of 2-over-par 74 and a two-day total of 6-over-par 150. Wang has competed in every event in JGTA history and looks to chase down her first JGTA victory tomorrow. Amy Gao (2021) of Shanghai, China and Eila Galitsky (2025) of Chiang Mai, Thailand are tied for third heading into the final round.

About the JGTA Bogor Junior Championship hosted by Sentul Highlands Golf Club
The JGTA Bogor Junior Championship hosted by Sentul Highlands Golf Club is making its debut January 2-4, 2019 as the second tournament on the JGTA’s 2018-2019 schedule. The event is sanctioned by the JGTA and awards AJGA PBE Status per Junior Order of Merit, the official ranking system of the JGTA and only source for AJGA PBE Status in Asia. Additionally, the event is sanctioned by Persatuan Golf Indonesia (PGI). The official host venue of the event, Sentul Highlands Golf Club, is an award-winning facility that is sure to test Asia’s top-ranked junior golfers.

About the Junior Golf Tour of Asia
The Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) is the governing body for competitive junior golf tournaments in the Asia-Pacific for young golfers to hone their skills at the highest level, developing into successful Collegiate athletes and future champions of the game. Members of the JGTA compete alongside other top-ranked players from across the region, who share similar competitive standings and aspirations for greatness.

JGTA tournaments are ranked on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit, the Tour’s official ranking system, and the source for AJGA PBE Status in the Asia-Pacific. Players earn Merit Points from their performance in JGTA events to improve their standing on the Junior Order of Merit. Following the end of each JGTA season (approx. June 1st), the top-performers (60 players total) are awarded AJGA PBE Status according to their final standing on the Junior Order Of Merit.

The JGTA strictly adheres to the competitive entry principles of its partners and the highest standards of performance based entry, to ensure the most competitive tournament fields at all times.
