Final Junior Order of Merit Announced and 2018 Junior All-Asia Team Named

With the completion of the inaugural Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) season, the final standings on the Junior Order of Merit have been announced, and the 2018 Juinior All-Asia Team has been named. Camille Boyd (2020) of (USA) Shanghai, China and Junyi Tang (2021) of Beijing, China are this year’s Junior Order of Merit Champions.

Players competed all season to improve their rankings in the Junior Order of Merit to earn AJGA PBE Status that is used to gain entry into American Junior Golf Association tournaments. The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is the gold standard and biggest stage in junior golf. More than 300 AJGA alumni play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have earned more than 830 Tour victories. Among these alumni are Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Paula Creamer, Grace Park, Inbee Park, Morgan Pressel and Stacy Lewis.

The inaugural Junior Golf Tour of Asia season consisted of three tournaments including the JGTA Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship presented by dwell Student Living, the JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship, and the JGTA Phuket Junior Open.

All-Asia Team

The JGTA All-Asia Teams are composed of the top performers on the Junior Order of Merit.  All-Asia honors are given to the top five boys and top five girls in the Junior Order of Merit, which also earns them Fully Exempt Status in the American Junior Golf Association. The players named to the All-Asia Team are considered to be among the top-ranked junior golfers in Asia and the most promising candidates for College golf.

The JGTA’s second season will begin in September of 2018 and run through May of 2019. AJGA PBE Status will be on the line and a fuller schedule will make competition fierce come fall.
