Champions On and Off the Course

The American Junior Golf Association has announced the 2019 AJGA Scholastic Junior All-America Teams, comprised of the world’s brightest minds and golfers alike. Cyrus Yu Fung Lee (2020) of Hong Kong, a JGTA competitor, has been selected as one of the 24 players honored (12 boys and 12 girls).

The AJGA Scholastic Junior All-America team is selected using a combination of accolades in the classroom, on the golf course, leadership in school and in their communities. Lee was selected with the following accolades – A GPA of 4.18, a SAT score of 1560, a T7 finish at the Foley Performance Academy @ Eaglesdream Junior All-Star, community involvement with Leadership Links, the AJGA’s Ace Grant program, his work as a math and science as well as a SAT tutor, and his involvement with the UNICEF club.

Additionally, three JGTA competitors have been named on the 2019 AJGA Scholastic Honor Roll. These players are JGTA Champion Ieong Sin Kuan (2020) of Macau, Kuangyu (Tony) Chen (2021) of Shenzhen, China, and Irene Wang (2020) of Beijing, China.

About The Southern Junior

The second edition of The Southern Junior is making its debut October 29 – 31, 2019 as the first tournament on the JGTA’s 2019-2020 schedule. The event is sanctioned by the JGTA and awards AJGA PBE Status per Junior Order of Merit, the official ranking system of the JGTA and only source for AJGA PBE Status in Asia. The official host venue of the event, Zhuhai Golden Gulf Golf Club, has been honored as one of Southern China’s elite golf venues and is sure to test Asia’s top-ranked junior golfers.

About the Junior Golf Tour of Asia

The Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) is the governing body for competitive junior golf tournaments in the Asia-Pacific for young golfers to hone their skills at the highest level, developing into successful Collegiate athletes and future champions of the game. Members of the JGTA compete alongside other top-ranked players from across the region, who share similar competitive standings and aspirations for greatness.

JGTA tournaments are ranked on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit, the Tour’s official ranking system, and the source for AJGA PBE Status in the Asia-Pacific. Players earn Merit Points from their performance in JGTA events to improve their standing on the Junior Order of Merit. Following the end of each JGTA season (approx. June 1st), the top-performers (60 players total) are awarded AJGA PBE Status according to their final standing on the Junior Order Of Merit.

The JGTA strictly adheres to the competitive entry principles of its partners and the highest standards of performance based entry, to ensure the most competitive tournament fields at all times.
