The Spirit of the Sea

Damai Indah Golf has two championship golf courses located on separate sites – the Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) course and Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) course, the host venue of the ATI Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World 2019 presented by AKI. The Pantai Indah Kapuk course was crafted by world-renowned golf course designer and architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. Nicknamed “The Spirit of the Sea”, Pantai Indah Kapuk is located along the Java Sea-line and incorporates strategically placed streams, ponds, and marshland to challenge players. Avoiding the water on this course will be a feat…even the driving range is over-water style. Here are some key holes to watch:

Players teeing off on the 1st hole will start with an easy par-5. Water lines the entire left side of the hole and a large bunker waits to catch errant tee shots to the right. This hole offers a great chance for birdie out of the gate.

The 154 yard par-3 7th is one of the most picturesque holes on the golf course. A short, water-lined par 3 with perfectly placed bunkers leaves players with a straight forward par-3 requiring accuracy.. The only “safe” place to miss is short and left.

The 404 yard par-4 9th is the second most challenging hole according to handicap on the golf course. A common theme on this golf course, the hole lined with water down the right side. A well-placed bunker will catch many tee shots on a beeline for the water. The water pinches the green, giving players an intimidating approach.

The short par-5 13th sits at just under 490 yards, leaving players with an opportunity to make up some ground heading into the final stretch. The hole is fairly straightforward – a wide open tee-shot and an approach that is protected by bunkers. Water lines the entire right side of this hole, but not as close as most on this course.

The 418 yard par-4 18th hole is the most challenging hole according to handicap on the golf course. The hole is unique in that it features two fairways, leaving players with a decision to hit a risky tee shot over water to give themselves a short approach, or to hit a relatively safe shot to the more accessible fairway.

Will we see a JGTA record-breaking 65 or better next week? We’ll find out soon enough.
