Moving Day at The Southern Junior presented by Tradewinds Furnishing

Moving day at China’s first Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) event, The 2019 Southern Junior presented by Tradewinds Furnishing, taking place this week at Foshan Golf Club, has come to an end. Tomorrow, champions will be crowned. Here is what you missed on moving day at The Southern Junior:

Girl’s Division

In the Girl’s Division, Ieong Sin Kuan (2020) of Macau and Yiyang Xu (2021) of Shanghai, China are tied for the lead at -2 through the first two rounds. Kuan followed up her first-round score of 70 with an even-par score of 72. Xu followed up her first-round score of 73 with the lowest Girl’s Division score thus far, a 3-under-par 69.

Trailing Kuan and Xu are Irene Wang (2020) of Beijing, China and Yulin Chen (2021) of Guangzhou, China, at 1-over-par through two rounds.

Boy’s Division

In the Boy’s Division, Songge Jiang (2021) of Zhangjiagang, China has taken over the Boy’s Division lead, following up his first-round score of 71 with a 2-under-par 70. Jiang made four birdies on the day.

Racing up the leaderboard and trailing Jiang by one stroke is Hsiao Che Yang (2021) of Tainan, Taiwan, firing the lowest round in the Boy’s Division thus far, a 4-under-par 68. Yang was in the mix at the end of the Hong Kong Junior Classic and a win here would mark the first from a player from Taiwan. Round one leader Zhongyu (Zach) Zhang (2022) of Kunming, China is in 3rd with a second-round score of 74 and a two-day total of 1-under-par 143.

Tomorrow will mark a crucial day in junior golf history when champions of the event will become the first to win on the Junior Golf Tour of Asia in China.
