JGTA Junior Order of Merit Race Ends Here

The Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) has announced its sanctioning of the 27th edition of the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship in what will be the final event of the season to gain or improve JGTA Junior Order of Merit rankings. The tournament will take place May 21-23, 2019 at Damai Indah Golf’s Pantai Indah Kapuk Course, located along the coast of Jakarta, Indonesia. The tournament will be a three-day, 54-hole stroke-play event, featuring Asia’s premier talent in junior golf.

The JGTA has deemed that the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship 2019 meets the utmost standards needed to uphold JGTA sanctioning. 60 spots in the 144-player field are reserved for those competing in the JGTA, and this events results will count towards players’ JGTA Junior Order of Merit standing, which awards AJGA PBE status per final ranking at the end of the JGTA season. In addition, this year’s Boys Overall winner will also be given a sponsor exemption to participate in the Asian Development Tour’s Ciputra Golfpreneur event this August.

The objective of the JGTA is to provide junior golfers with a platform to advance their college golf standing and hone their game in recognized events during the offseason. The tournament field for the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship will be determined by AJGA PBE Status, resulting in an elite field of future stars from across the Asia-Pacific. The JGTA maintains a global membership base, with over 15 countries being represented. Junior golf families from as far as the United States travel to Asia to compete in JGTA events.

The Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship is founded on the principles of promoting the development of junior golf and generating friendship amongst the other players from all nations around the world. This hopefully will help the future youth grow and create a better world in the future. In 2018, winners of the event included Zubair bin Mohd Firdaus of Australia and Phannarai Meesom-us of Thailand.

The Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) course also known as “The Spirit of the Sea” is one of two pristine Damai Indah Golf Courses and was designed by world-renowned golf course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr. The course is ranked 11th in Indonesia and has hosted the Asian PGA Tour’s Indonesia President Invitational and the European Tour’s Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open.

As this will be the final event on this year’s schedule, it marks the last opportunity for players to gain or improve rankings on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit – the Tour’s official ranking system. JGTA All-Asia Teams, composed of the top-10 boys and top-10 girls on the Junior Order of Merit after the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship, will be named at the event. The top-5 finishers on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit in each division earn AJGA Fully Exempt Status – the most sought-after status in junior golf.  Players who earn a spot on the JGTA All-Asia Team are considered by College coaches as top prospects for College golf.
