Finest Players in Indonesia - #JGTABogor Field

This week, players from 13 countries are headed to Bogor, Indonesia for the JGTA Bogor Junior Championship hosted by Sentul Highlands Golf Club in hopes to be crowned JGTA champions.

The JGTA sets aside a number of spots for local players at each event as part of its mission to grow the game of elite competition among junior golfers all over Asia. Junior golfers from Indonesia have confidently filled these spots looking to make a name for Indonesian golfers as a JGTA Champion. Only time will tell who has what it takes to win Bogor’s first JGTA event.

In total, 407 AJGA Performance Based Entry Stars are represented in the field, and many players have yet to compete on the JGTA circuit. Here are some players to keep your eye on at the JGTA Bogor Junior Championship hosted by Sentul Highlands Golf Club:

Local Players

Kentaro Nanayama (2021) of Jakarta, Indonesia

Nanayama regularly competes in the Indonesia Junior Premier League and has multiple local wins under his belt including the 2016 Pondok Indah International Junior Golf Championship. His most recent notable win was the FCG Callaway World Golf Championship in which he fired 71-67-74 and held on to win in a playoff.

Gabriel Hansel Hari (2021) of Tangerang, Indonesia

Like Nanayama, Hari regularly competes in the Indonesia Junior Premier League and has multiple local wins to his name. His most notable recent finish was at the Indonesia National Amateur Championship in which he finished second after shooting 72-72-70-70 for a tournament total of 284.

JGTA Stars

Champions of the JGTA Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship presented by Tradewinds Furnishings Singapore and current Junior Order of Merit Leaders Justin Sun (2022) of Shenzhen, China and Amy Gao (2021) of Shanghai, China look to maintain their ranking through the JGTA Bogor Junior Championship hosted by Sentul Highlands Golf Club.

Wild Card

Pongsapak Laopakdee (2023) of Rayong, Thailand finished 10th on the Junior Order of Merit in the 2017-2018 JGTA season and makes his season start at the JGTA Bogor Junior Championship hosted by Sentul Highlands Golf Club. Laopakdee had a solid summer season including a repeat win at the FCG Callaway World Golf Championship, a T8 finish at the IMG Junior World Golf Championships and a T10 finish at the AJGA’s Windham Mountain Resort Junior All-Star. He recently won the Pondok Indah International Junior Golf Championship and looks to become a JGTA champion this week.
