Round One Recap - JGTA Bintan

JGTA members with a span of 13 nationalities took their talents to the Jack Nicklaus Seaview Course at Bintan Lagoon Resort for the first round of the JGTA Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship presented by Tradewinds Furnishings Singapore today. This is the first event of the JGTA’s second season, and players are battling for their first chance to gain a ranking on the Junior Order of Merit, the source for AJGA PBE Status in Asia.

Eila Galitsky (2025) of Chiang Mai, Thailand, the youngest competitor in the Girl’s Division, set the pace and holds the lead after round one. Galitsky fired 38-37 for a 3-over-par score of 75. This is Galitsky’s second start on the Tour and she is no stranger to the top of the leaderboard. She finished 10th at the 2018 JGTA Phuket Open last April.

2017-2018 All-Asia team honoree Amy Gao (2021) of Shanghai, China sits in second place after shooting 37-40 for a score of 5-over-par 77. Marielle Isabella Tee (2020) of Pasig City, Philippines and Nga Wun (Tiffany) Wu (2020) of Hong Kong sit T3 after firing scores of 78.

In the Boy’s Division, Masaki Ujiie (2020) of Guam, USA came out of the gate hot firing 35-37 for an even-par score of 72. This is Ujiie’s 3rd JGTA event and his first-round performance gives him a 4 stroke lead going into Round 2.

A pack of competitors including Andy Sun (2022) of Shenzhen, China, Zicheng Ye (2022) of Shanghai, China, Ziyi Pan (2021) of Shanghai, China, and Markus Lam (2023) of Hong Kong, trail Ujiie, firing 4-over-par scores of 76.
