AJGA Weekend Recap
One day after welcoming their daughter Azalea to the world, Sergio Garcia attended their AJGA Tournament at the University of Texas Golf Club located in Austin, Texas – the Sergio and Angela Garcia Junior Championship presented by Callaway. The exciting weekend of golf kicked off with a clinic from Sergio himself at the University of Texas Golf Team practice facility.
Baylor commit John Keefer (2019) of San Antonio, Texas and Jennie Park (2019) of Carrollton, Texas won the event. Keefer won with scores of 70-67-74 for a tournament total of two-under-par 211, taking the trophy 5 strokes ahead of his closest competitor. His six-birdie second round of 67 gave him a comfortable lead heading into Sunday and he managed to keep the lead through the final round.
TCU verbal commit and 2016 ACDS Junior All-Star team member Jennie Park took the title with scores of 74-72-68 for a tournament total of two-under-par 214. Park trailed a three-way tie of the lead going into the final round that included the champion of the 2018 Buick Shanshan Feng Girls Invitational Sadie Englemann (2020) of Austin, Texas, Libby Winans (2018) of Richardson, Texas, and Maisie Filler (2020) of Bloomfield, Connecticut. Birdies late in Park’s round on Sunday led her to victory.
