AJGA Summer Season

In a few short weeks, the AJGA’s Summer 2018 season will kick off with the Evitt Foundation RTC Junior All-Star and five Open tournaments. 74 tournaments make up the summer schedule across 35 states and Ontario. The most visited states are California (ten tournaments), Texas (five tournaments), and Florida (five tournaments). Players will be battling to showcase their skills on junior golf’s greatest stage in front of top college coaches.

Among the first week’s Open tournaments are the Daniel Berger Junior Championship and the AJGA Hale Irwin Colorado Junior. Champion of the 2017 Daniel Berger Junior Championship, Jillian Bourdage (2020) of Tamarac, Florida returns to defend her title. Both 2017 champions of the AJGA Hale Irwin Colorado Junior, Artem Yalovenko (2019) of (Russian Federation) Windermere, Florida and Hailey Schalk (2020) of Erie, Colorado will return to defend their titles.

The Wyndham Invitational presented by BB&T and Rolex Girl’s Junior take place early in the summer season. Past winners of the Wyndham Invitational include Brian Harman, Peter Uihlein, and Justin Thomas. Trent Philips of Inman, South Carolina won the event in 2017 after carding scores of 66-68-71-69. Past winners of the Rolex Girl’s Junior include Alison Lee, Paula Creamer, Inbee Park, Morgan Pressel, and Brittany Lang. Rachel Heck (2020) of Memphis, Tennessee won in 2017 after firing 67-69-72-70 and returns to defend her title in 2018.

Late June is home to the Under Armour®/Jordan Spieth Championship presented by American Campus Communities and the Polo Golf Junior Classic. The historic Polo Golf Junior Classic has been won by Tiger Woods, Trevor Immelman, Erik Compton, Hunter Mahan, Heather Farr, Grace Park, Paula Creamer, and Morgan Pressel.

As the summer season is winding down, the Swinging Skirts AJGA Invitational and the Junior PLAYERS Championship take place. The winner of the Swinging Skirts AJGA Invitational earns an exemption into the Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship that takes place in October. Yujeong Son (2019) of (South Korea) Norman, Oklahoma won the event in 2017, carding scores of 69-73-68.
