AJGA Weekend Recap

Three tournaments kicked off the AJGA’s 2019 season this past weekend – the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex, the Foley Performance Academy @ EaglesDream Junior Championship, and the AJGA Vista Valley Junior presented by Genesis. Here is the action that you’ve missed.

The 11th annual ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex featured an all-girls field of 72 players from 15 countries and a Symetra Tour exemption to Florida’s Natural Charity Classic was on the line – what a way to start the AJGA Season. Through 54 holes, Ingrid Lindblad (2019) of Halmstad, Sweden, Jensen Castle (2019) of West Columbia, South Carolina, and Kaiyuree Moodley (2020) of Johannesburg, South Africa sat tied at 2-under-par 214 for the tournament. Lindblad held on to win, making par on the first playoff hole. Lindblad is a Louisiana State University verbal commit and this marks her first AJGA win in her first AJGA event.

Tyler Wilkes (2020) of Tampa, Florida dusted the field on Timacuan Golf and Country Club at the Foley Performance Academy @ EaglesDream Junior Championship after firing 65-73-70 for a tournament total of 8-under-par 208. Wilkes is a verbal commit to the University of Florida, and this is his second AJGA victory, starting off the AJGA season on the right note. Wilkes was trailed by Bo Peng (2019) of (China) Lake Mary, Florida, finishing in second place and Christopher Zhang (2019) of Blacksburg, Virginia, finishing in third.

Anne Yu (2020) of (China) Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida took home the trophy in the girl’s division with scores of 76-75-76 for a tournament total of 11-over-par 227. This is Yu’s first AJGA victory. She was trailed by Izzy M. Pellot (2022) of Altamonte Springs, Florida, finishing in second place, and Deborah Chang (2020) of Seoul, South Korea, finishing in third.

All while defending his title, Dylan Menante (2019) of Carlsbad, California held on to win in a playoff against Evan Vo (2021) of Austin, Texas at the AJGA Vista Valley Junior presented by Genesis. Menante is a verbal commit to Pepperdine University and this marks his second career AJGA victory.

Kamille Dimayuga (2021) of Buena Park, California was crowned champion at the AJGA Vista Valley Junior presented by Genesis after firing 77-68-74 for a tournament total of 6-over-par 219. Like Menante, this is Dimayuga’s second career AJGA victory. Trailing Dimayuga was Hailey Borja (2019) of Lake Forest, California, finishing in second place, and Lauren Gomez (2021) of San Diego, California, finishing in third.
