The Summer is winding down – and so are the scores. JGTA competitors took home 8 Top-15 finishes across three AJGA events last week. Here is what you’ve missed.

The Saint Andrew’s Golf Club in Hastings On-Hudson, NY

96 players battled it out at America’s oldest golf club – The Saint Andrew’s Golf Club.

Finishing T-13 from the JGTA was Kuangyu (Tony) Chen (2021) of (Australia) Shenzhen, China. Chen is a University of California, Berkeley commit and his best JGTA finish to date was 13th at the JGTA Taiwan Junior Championship in 2018 and he won his first AJGA event last season – the KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational.

On the girl’s side, Wenlu Su (2021) of Guangzhou, China took home the best finish from the JGTA at 14th overall. This year is her first season competing on the AJGA circuit after finishing 24th on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit and she already has a commendable Rolex AJGA Ranking – T419.

Following just behind Su was Mariel Isabella Tee (2020) of Pasig City, Philippines. This marks Tee’s 3rd top-15 finish this summer in an AJGA event.

UHY Detroit Junior at Forest Lake
Forest Lake Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Minnesota 

Two Girls from the JGTA finished Top-10 at the UHY Detroit Junior at Forest Lake. They were Junior All-Asia Team member Yulin Chen (2021) of Guangzhou, China and Yiting Pan (2021) of Shanghai, China.

Chen’s 83-72-76 was strong enough to mark her 3rd top-10 performance in an AJGA event this summer, while Pan’s 75-76-80 put her in the top-10 of an AJGA event for the first time in her career.

Sean Foley Performance Junior All-Star
Timacuan Golf & Country Club in Lake Mary, Florida

Leading the charge for the JGTA in the Boy’s Division was Boyi (Barry) Zhang (2024) of Beijing, China, firing 72-75-72 to take home a T5 finish. Zhang made a combined 11 birdies across 54 holes of golf.

Trailing just behind Zhang was JGTA Bintan Lagoon Junior Championship presented by Tradewinds Furnishing champion and Junior All-Asia Team member Yilin (Justin) Sun (2022) of Shenzhen, China. Sun shot 71-73-79 to take home a T9 finish. This is Sun’s second time finishing in the top-10 in  an AJGA event this summer and this performance dropped his Rolex AJGA Ranking 89 spots, down to T735.

Taking home a T-15 finish in the Girl’s Division was Yuqi Liu (2023) of Beijing, China. Liu’s 80-78-77 led to her best AJGA finish to date. Liu broke out on the JGTA circuit at the Hong Kong Junior Classic at Clearwater Bay, where she finished 3rd – and ultimately finished 14th on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit.

About the Junior Golf Tour of Asia
The Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) is the governing body for competitive junior golf tournaments in the Asia-Pacific for young golfers to hone their skills at the highest level, developing into successful Collegiate athletes and future champions of the game. Members of the JGTA compete alongside other top-ranked players from across the region, who share similar competitive standings and aspirations for greatness.

JGTA tournaments are ranked on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit, the Tour’s official ranking system, and the source for AJGA PBE Status in the Asia-Pacific. Players earn Merit Points from their performance in JGTA events to improve their standing on the Junior Order of Merit. Following the end of each JGTA season (approx. June 1st), the top-performers (60 players total) are awarded AJGA PBE Status according to their final standing on the Junior Order Of Merit.

The JGTA strictly adheres to the competitive entry principles of its partners and the highest standards of performance based entry, to ensure the most competitive tournament fields at all times.
