Up next on the JGTA’s 2018-2019 schedule is the season-ending ATI Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World 2019 presented by AKI, taking place in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. The city is located on the northwestern side of the island of Java – the most populous island in Indonesia, with more than 10 million people calling the city of Jakarta Home. Jakarta is known for its tropical climate, historic buildings, and its melting pot of cultures including Javanese, Chinese, Malay, European and more. 

Arriving in Jakarta

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (airport code CGK) is the main hub for entry into Jakarta. The airport is the largest in Southeast Asia and serves roughly 75 million passengers a year. With projects to be completed by the mid-2020s, the airport will be capable of serving upwards of 100 million passengers per year. Soekarno-Hatta International airport is located just a quick 15 minutes drive to Damai Indah Golf’s Pantai Indah Kapuk course. 

Local Food

Jakarta’s diversity leads to a range of unique food options. A few dishes to try out includes nasi goreng (fried rice with an Indonesian twist), nasi padang, sate, pisang goreng sambal roa, and of course, the infamous luwak kopi (coffee).

Local Attractions 

Monas Tower
Address: Jalan Silang Monas, Jakarta 10110, Indonesia

Construction broke ground on Monas Tower in 1961 and it was finished in 1975. The tower is a national monument that celebrates Indonesia’s nationalism and independence. The tower features a hall of independence, a meditation hall, the Museum of Indonesian History, and an observation deck overlooking the city.

Ancol Beach
Address: Pantai Carnaval, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, Jakarta 14430, Indonesia

For those looking to kick their feet up in the sand, Ancol Beach is the place. Ancol Beach is the main beach for the city of Jakarta and It’s located 30 minutes from the golf course.

Kota Tua
Address: Jalan Taman Fatahillah No.1, West Jakarta, Jakarta

Kota Tua, also known as “Jakarta Old Town” is the original downtown neighborhood of Jakarta. Jakarta Old Town was also once known as “Old Batavia” and was a walled off city known as the capital of the Dutch East Indies. Jakarta Old Town was an integral port for spice trade and the area is restored today. Visiting Jakarta Old Town will have you feeling like you are in the Netherlands.

Pasar Baru
Address: Jalan Pasar Baru Sawah Besar, Jakarta 10710, Indonesia

Pasar Baru is a thriving market nestled in central Jakarta featuring food stalls serving local dishes, stores selling handmade goods, and thrift shops. Set a timer when entering the market area, time can pass by like a breeze.

Istiqlal Mosque
Address: Jalan Taman Wijaya Kusuma, Ps. Baru, Sawah Besar, Kota Jakarta Pusat, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 10710, Indonesia

Istiqlal Mosque located nearby Monas Tower is the largest Mosque in Southeast Asia. The mosque can accommodate up to 120,000 people. Keep an eye out for it when arriving at Jakarta by plane.

Set to take place May 21 – 23, the ATI Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World 2019 presented by AKI will be the final stop of the JGTA’s 2018-2019 season. The host venue of the event Damai Indah Golf’s, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) course, located in Jakarta, Indonesia.

About Damai Indah Golf’s Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) Course
The Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) course also known as “The Spirit of the Sea” is one of two pristine Damai Indah Golf Courses and was designed by world-renowned golf course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr. The course is ranked 11th in Indonesia and has hosted the Asian PGA Tour’s Indonesia President Invitational and the European Tour’s Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open.

About the Junior Golf Tour of Asia
The Junior Golf Tour of Asia (JGTA) is the governing body for competitive junior golf tournaments in the Asia-Pacific for young golfers to hone their skills at the highest level, developing into successful Collegiate athletes and future champions of the game. Members of the JGTA compete alongside other top-ranked players from across the region, who share similar competitive standings and aspirations for greatness.

JGTA tournaments are ranked on the JGTA Junior Order of Merit, the Tour’s official ranking system, and the source for AJGA PBE Status in the Asia-Pacific. Players earn Merit Points from their performance in JGTA events to improve their standing on the Junior Order of Merit. Following the end of each JGTA season (approx. June 1st), the top-performers (60 players total) are awarded AJGA PBE Status according to their final standing on the Junior Order Of Merit.

The JGTA strictly adheres to the competitive entry principles of its partners and the highest standards of performance based entry, to ensure the most competitive tournament fields at all times.
