What Can Twelve AJGA PBE Stars do for You?

Players who have earned twelve AJGA PBE Stars have greater options to choose from when determining their summer AJGA schedules. Today we will highlight tournaments that players who have earned 12-stars or more this season on the JGTA may be able to gain entry into in 2018. All tournaments featured below Open Tournaments. Open tournaments are for AJGA members who are 12-19 years old. Players with the highest earned Performance Based Entry status as of the application deadline will gain entry into the event.

WinCraft / McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends | July 10-13

The WinCraft/McArthur Towel & Sports Future Legends was founded in 2005 and takes place at The Legend at Merrill Hills in Waukesha, Wisconsin this year. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 7 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 3 Boys with 6 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker. The Girls initial tournament field required a status of 11 Performance Stars or more to gain entry. Schools in attendance included Purdue University (Men) University of Kansas (Men), University of Wisconsin (Men & Women), and Marquette University (Men).

Amino VITAL® Junior Championship | July 10-13

The Amino Vital® Junior Championship takes place at Treyburn Country Club in Durham, North Carolina. The champions were international players- Xin (Cindy) Kou (2021) of (China) Windemere, Florida and Ranveer Grewal (2018) of Ludhiana, India. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 12 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 1 Boy with 11 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker. The Girls initial tournament field required a status of 11 Performance Stars or more to gain entry. A long list of coaches was in attendance including George Washington University (Men), University of North Carolina (Men & Women), and Coastal Carolina University (Women).

AJGA Junior at Forest Lake presented by Tom Holzer Ford | August 6-9

The AJGA Junior at Forest Lake takes place in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 10 AJGA PBE Stars or more to gain entry; 3 Boys with 9 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker. The Girls initial tournament field required a much higher status (28 Performance Stars). Forest Lake Country Club has seen scores as low as 64 and 65 over the five-year stretch of its existence. The fourth Rolex AJGA Ranked player, Karl Vilips (2020) of (Australia) Wesley Chapel, Florida, won the event in 2015. Schools in attendance included Eastern Michigan University (Men), Indiana University (Men), Michigan State University (Men), Ohio State University (Men) University of Iowa (Women), and the University of Michigan (Women).

AJGA Colonial Junior | August 13-16

The AJGA Colonial Junior, formerly known as the AJGA Junior at Ford’s Colony, takes place at Ford’s Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, Virginia. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 9 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 1 Boy with 8 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker. The Girls initial tournament field required a status of 12 Performance Stars or more to gain entry. The sixth Rolex AJGA Ranked player, Akshay Bhatia (2020) of Wake Forest, North Carolina, captured one of his many victories of 2017 at this tournament. Schools in attendance included Coastal Carolina University (Men), James Madison University (Men), University of Delaware (Men), University of Maryland (Men), University of North Carolina (Men), University of Virginia (Men), and the College of William & Mary (Women).

AJGA Junior at Fiddler’s Elbow | August 20-23

The AJGA Junior at Fiddler’s Elbow was founded in 2017 and takes place at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster Township, New Jersey. The Girl’s Division winner Kelly Sim (2018) of Stillwater New Jersey finished 16-under-par last year. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 11 Performance Stars or more to gain entry. The Girls initial tournament field required a status of 13 Performance Stars or more to gain entry. Schools in attendance included Bucknell University (Men), Rutgers (Men & Women), University of Maryland (Women), and Yale (Women).
