What Can Eight Stars Do for You?

Players who have earned eight AJGA Performance Stars through their final ranking on the Junior Order of Merit are more likely to gain entry into AJGA tournaments this summer. Today we will highlight tournaments that players who have earned 8 AJGA PBE Stars or more this season on the JGTA may be able to gain entry into in 2018. All tournaments featured below Open Tournaments. Open tournaments are for AJGA members who are 12-19 years old. Players with the highest earned Performance Based Entry status as of the application deadline will gain entry into the event.

The Killington Junior Golf Championship takes place at Green Mountain National Golf Course in Killington, Vt. It is a popular choice for Ivy league Coaches Recruiting. In 2017, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Brown University, and Columbia University had coaches in attendance. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 6 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 10 Boys with 5 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker. The Girls initial tournament field required a status of 6 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 1 Girl with 5 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker.

The New Era Junior Championship will return to Harvest Hills Golf Course in Orchard Park, New York for the fifth time this year. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 7 Performance Stars or more to gain entry. The Girls initial tournament field required a status of 6 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 1 Girl with 5 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker.

The UHY LLP CPA’s Championship takes place at The Legends Country Club in Eureka, Mo. Low scores separated Brooke Matthews (2017) of Rodgers, Arkansas from the pack in 2017 as she won the tournament at seven-under-par. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 4 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 2 Boys with 3 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker. The Girls initial tournament field required a status of 7 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 3 Girls with 6 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker.

Crooked Creek Golf Course in London, Kentucky will host the AJGA City of London Junior Championship for the sixth time in 2018. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 6 Performance Stars or more to gain entry. The Girls initial tournament field required a status of 7 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 1 Girl with 6 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker. Middle Tennessee State University, Mississippi State University, Purdue University, Vanderbilt University, Louisiana Tech University, Marshall University, University of Kentucky and the University of Tennessee had coaches in attendance in 2017.

The Randy Wise Junior Open takes place at Spring Meadows Country Club in Linden, Mich. Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, and Phil Mickelson are past champions of the tournament. In 2017, the Boys initial tournament field required a status of 8 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 4 Boys with 7 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker. The Girls initial tournament field required a status of 6 Performance Stars or more to gain entry; 1 Girl with 5 Performance Stars gained entry via PBE tiebreaker.
